Who we become matters.
Education is also about how we listen, act and care. Heritage's character learning has explored empathy and responsibility through the choices students make every day.

Empathy
Understanding another person's perspective begins with listening. Students are encouraged to recognize feelings, offer support and build respectful relationships.
Showing kindness, supporting a friend and helping someone in need are everyday ways to put empathy into practice.
Responsibility
Responsibility means following through on commitments, answering for our actions and using good judgment. It includes being reliable, taking care of our responsibilities and making thoughtful choices.
Small actions. Meaningful impact.
Character grows through practice. We encourage students to bring compassion and responsibility into their relationships, their learning and their contribution to the wider community.
Learning to rise together
The school’s Phoenix activities give younger learners a way to explore belonging and courage. Grade 1 children joined their individual named trees into a shared tree; KG3 children made Phoenix birds as a way to talk about rising and beginning again.
